Downfall

It's such a great dark surreal horror narrative-driven game. It's a part of The Devil Came Through Here trilogy and a sequel of The Cat Lady.

The story is so good and wacky, it delivered a fresh air for the horror game scene. Similar to The Cat Lady, it touches upon sensitive theme such as mental illness. I think the devs understand how to create the game to be an allegory of real-world issues that we rarely talk about and it actually hits hard.

It has good art style, good music, and good voice acting, albeit the quality can be a bit inconsistent or sound a bit crispy because it was done mostly by a very small group of indie devs.

I think my gripe about this game is the level design. As the game takes place in one bigger place rather than different levels, it has its highs and lows. I like how the bigger level does make you explore and it reminds me of how older point-and-click game usually treat exploration. But at the same time it might also mean you need to backtrack several times especially when you are missing something, and it's not really fun as your character is moving in a snail pace. I feel this could've been mitigated if the main character can at least run while exploring.

I also think in overall, The Cat Lady still is a superior game despite it is older and this game supposed to be a remake of the original Downfall game from back then.

All in all, I hope people play this game. It's such an interesting game and I think it deserves more recognition.
