Development update (July 2025)
Hey gamers, I hope you’re having a great summer. If you're in Europe, I understand the struggle with coping with this heatwave. I'm happy to be back with some exciting updates on the platform! [Search to Play development update June 2025] Premium accounts I already wrote about this in a separate blog post, but I've launched the Supporter plan - paid premium account with additional features for the platform. This will allow the community to support the platform's development and receive extra features in return. [Supporter page] Since the launch, I’ve introduced the first "Supporter-only" feature - profile banners. Supporters can choose a banner from any game and showcase it on their profile page. Here is mine as an example. [Profile banner] As a reminder, the core product will remain free. However, we need funds due to server and other expenses, so we must explore ways to monetize the platform, and that’s the first I came up with. Subscribing to the Supporter plan is currently the best way to help out. Likes and comments on game reviews As I envision this platform to be sociable first, I shipped the first attempt to spark more gaming-related conversation. You can now like and comment on each review. Comments also can be liked. [Comment example] It’s pretty basic for now. You can’t really mention or reply to other comments. Also, likes are only visual; they are not used anywhere to sort reviews or something. But it’ll be improved as soon as I understand how people actually use those features. Markdown support for reviews All reviews now support basic Markdown language. Markdown is a very simple way to format the text. Right now, we have bold, italic, links and “quotes support.” [Review form with markdown formatting options] If you have a gaming blog, it might be quite beneficial as we allow (dofollow) links to your full reviews. If I can help people get more traffic on their gaming blog, it only makes me happy. Library and sorting improvements This feature was requested a lot. Now you can finally sort inside your library by various criteria (when you added the game, your rating, release date, and OpenCritic rating). You can also see the ratings you gave to the game right on this page. [Library sorting] In addition, I improved sorting in general, so when you sort by HLTB or by release date, you will see this info right on the game cards instead of opening each game. It works on all sortable pages, including the main games page. [Sorting by HLTB hours on the games page] Gaming Journal This is my personal favorite. I always wanted some kind of representation of my gaming history throughout the years, and the gaming journal is exactly that. It’s a table with all your game completions (the game has to have a “finished date” to show up), with the platforms, your rating, how many hours you’ve played, dates, and a review linked if you wrote one. [Gaming journal page] Social Media Accounts on Your Profile Together with a few visual profile improvements, you can now add your social media accounts to your profile. Currently supported: YouTube, Twitch, X, Instagram, Threads, Reddit, TikTok, and Bluesky. Let me know if you’d like to see any other platforms. [Social media links on the profile] Other Improvements • Fixed a small bug with Steam usernames and display names (I didn’t realize they’re two different things) during sync. • Game categories (DLC, Bundle, etc.) are now shown on the game pages. • Small fix to correctly show larger user avatars. Content I continue creating gaming-related content on social media, Reddit, and YouTube to promote the platform and attract more users. I publish most of the content on X and YouTube (and repost it on IG and TikTok). Both of our communities on Discord and Reddit are growing. Their primary focus is to gather feedback from users and post updates. In the future, I hope we can build a nice gaming community too. If you already have any ideas or want to get involved, feel free to contact me. I am also thinking about doing our first giveaway of a free game, so keep your eyes peeled for that. What’s next I have quite a busy schedule this summer, so I might be shipping less new features. Hopefully, I’ll manage to deliver them anyway. I'm not 100% sure about the planned iOS app yet. I really want to start working on it, but I feel like I need more uninterrupted focused work to make it happen. It will be released sooner or later, that’s for sure. Currently, my highest priorities are: • List improvements: proper sorting, simplifying adding games, customizations, deleting lists, and the ability to set a custom order • Email notifications: adding useful email notifications, like your gaming digest or game release alerts • Advanced game filters and greying out completed games • Smart game recommendations (using AI) I don’t have a strict roadmap (one of the perks of being a solo founder), so if you feel like there is some must-have feature that should be shipped, feel free to reach out via the feedback form or on Discord. Thank you for being part of the community! Keep playing, take care, and I'll see you soon!
