Community Guidelines

Last Updated: April 27, 2025

Welcome to Search to Play — a community built by and for gamers. Our goal is to foster a respectful, thoughtful, and passionate space to discover, track, and celebrate games together.

These Community Guidelines help us protect the space we're building. If you choose to engage with the community — whether through reviews, ratings, lists, comments, or other interactions — please follow these principles.

Respect Each Other

  • Be kind, courteous, and constructive — especially when opinions differ.
  • Everyone has different tastes and gaming backgrounds. Respect diversity in genre preferences, play styles, and life experiences.
  • Do not harass, bully, shame, threaten, or target others.
  • Avoid name-calling, slurs, or offensive jokes at someone's expense.

No Hate, No Intolerance

  • Hate speech, bigotry, or discrimination of any kind has no place here — including content that targets race, gender identity, sexuality, disability, age, religion, nationality, or other protected identities.
  • Do not promote or engage in extremist ideologies or violence.

Stay Safe

  • Do not post or solicit personal information — yours or anyone else's.
  • Do not impersonate other members or Search to Play staff.
  • If you feel unsafe or experience abuse, report it to us — we'll take it seriously.

Keep It Honest and Original

  • Share your honest opinions and insights — your words matter.
  • Don't plagiarize. Write your own reviews. If quoting others, attribute clearly.
  • Don't post false or misleading information, spam, or promotional content unrelated to gaming.
  • If you're affiliated with a game, publisher, or service, please disclose it transparently.

Spoilers

  • Respect the player journey. If your review contains significant story spoilers, please use the spoiler toggle.
  • Don't include untagged spoilers in list titles, descriptions, or comments.
  • Everyone plays at their own pace — let's not ruin that for others.

Moderation and Enforcement

  • We reserve the right to remove content that is abusive, misleading, hateful, off-topic, or in violation of these guidelines.
  • We may remove or restrict accounts based on repeated violations, or in severe cases, for off-platform behavior that threatens the safety of the community.
  • These guidelines are a living document — we update them as needed to reflect evolving norms, language, and platform behavior.

In Short?

Be curious. Be honest. Be kind.

Help create the type of gaming space you would want to hang out in.
