Marvel Rivals

Fun to pass the time if you're a marvel fan, especially with friends.

I've mostly loved the experience and haven't set it down for a long period of time as I have with other multiplayer games. The big game-winning moments feel extra special due an affinity for marvel characters. Reached platinum one, maybe diamond 3 at one point? Besides Overwatch, maybe my greatest talent ceiling in a multiplayer game.

Like a lot of hero shooters, it has a lot of potential but it makes the same mistakes as all the others. Great character roster potential and solid enough mechanics, but another instance where they implement healer abilities and supers where you just don't get to play the game for long stretches of time. And then on top of that, they keep seeming to buff the characters I cannot fucking stand fighting against and ones I find so fucking boring to play like Hawkeye.

Also they did Punisher so dirty in this game, he's like the worst version they could've possibly implemented from a characterisation point, and his abilities are so uncreative for what Punisher has shown to do in the comics.

While there are characters I like playing as, I'm not much of a Marvel head. I do like some of the uniqueness of the game, but it does often get overshadowed by the same kinda feelings from when I played Overwatch, where healers are way too strong in ult instances and unfortunately the characters I like playing as have some really bad problems that can make them feel completely invalidated by so many other characters. Needs a lot of work but it's compelling enough to play casually until the game inevitably makes you wanna stop. For me, it's mostly after like 4 or 5 matches.
