The game was designed with a team of teachers and educationalists, in accordance with the official programmes of the Department of Education. Aimed for an audience of young children between four and six years old, Rayman Maternelle prepares them to enter in the primary school with an introduction to the reading and the calculus, creativity, music and English workshops and games that familiarize the player with the mouse and the keyboard. Some earlier editions of Rayman Maternelle were bundled with an exclusive Rayman-branded computer mouse.
