In the vacuum left by mankind, players assume the role of "Semibots"—humanoid, pill-shaped retrieval droids equipped with gravity-manipulation tools. The Semibots operate under the strict servitude of the "Taxman," a mysterious, detached Overseer AI that communicates exclusively through a bizarre distortion of emojis—most notably a crying-laughing icon. The Taxman deploys the Semibots into abandoned, ghost-town locations—such as subways, stations, and museums—to forcefully reclaim valuable, physics-based items to satisfy astronomical debt quotas. However, these desolate areas are now fiercely guarded by a terrifying assortment of anomalous monsters and hostile, mutated entities. As the droids extract loot, avoid deadly traps, and harvest the glowing pink "souls" of fallen creatures, environmental storytelling reveals a tragic, underlying narrative about the fall of human civilization and the sadistic machine now playing puppet master with what remains.
