The adventure takes place across the lush and untamed North Star Islands, a brand-new setting home to a population of enormous, gentle creatures. Trouble arrives when the villainous Doctor Eggman, scheming as ever to seize power, sets out to capture these giant animals and harness them to build a formidable new army. To carry out his plot, he enlists two accomplices: the greedy bounty hunter Fang the Hunter and the mysterious newcomer Trip the Sungazer. Standing against them are the heroic Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, who race across the islands to foil Eggman's scheme.
