Terrahold is a strategy sandbox about building and defending a colony on a living procedural planet. Starting with a teleporter and a single drone, the player explores the world, establishes resource outposts, expands a shared power grid, and develops the colony toward the energy output required to open a permanent tunnel home. Terrahold is a strategy sandbox about building and defending a colony on a living procedural planet. Starting with a teleporter and a single drone, the player explores the world, establishes resource outposts, expands a shared power grid, and develops the colony toward the energy output required to open a permanent tunnel home. The planet reacts to the colony's expansion through spreading alien vegetation, hostile creatures, eggs, spores, and other environmental threats rather than conventional scripted attack waves. Players can use autonomous robots, defensive structures, force fields, bridges, radar, and terraforming to reshape terrain, protect infrastructure, and expand into hostile territory. A remote colony is established on a hostile alien world through a one-way teleporter. With only a small pool of resources and a handful of autonomous robots, the colonists must explore the planet, secure new sources of energy and minerals, and expand their infrastructure across dangerous terrain. As the settlement grows, the native ecosystem begins to react. Aggressive plants spread toward power lines and buildings, hostile creatures emerge from the fog, and the planet becomes increasingly dangerous. The colony’s ultimate objective is to survive long enough to generate the enormous amount of power required to open a permanent tunnel back home while keeping the teleporter and the expanding settlement intact.
