Practically, this game is Trails in the Sky 3rd but for Cold Steel.
I really like this one due to how they tell the main story. Alternating between viewpoints is a really fun approach to tell a story and feels fresh for a Trails game.
At first, I was annoyed at how they are using the same trope again, but I am glad I keep going because by Chapter 2 or so I realized that it is not as what it seems on the surface, and it turned the story to a compelling one.
Reverie in this game is virtually Phantasma from Trails in the Sky 3rd, although it is "modernized" so to speak. I enjoyed it more than the Phantasma, although at the same time it might feels like time-padding or grinding-fest. Basically, if you like the combat formula of Trails, you are going to have a fun time. If you are only here for the story, it might become tedious.
Pro tip: if you don't care about story, just put the game on easiest mode and enjoy the story, because the story is actually good.
Overall, I think this game is "more Trails" which Trails fans couldn't complain much about, because for me I just love to see and play more as my favorite character(s) that I learned to love over several games.
