The Testament of Sherlock Holmes

The game is surprisingly good.

I really enjoyed the story for the most part. After playing previous Sherlock Holmes games that I just can't stick with due to the frustrating outdated gameplay, this game addressed most of my complaints from those games. It's still not perfect, but it is still the best one yet looking at it chronologically. When I can look past these issues and excusing the age of the game, the game is really enjoyable. Shame the fps is capped at 60.

I truly enjoyed how the game gives you choice to play it in 3 different perspectives: first person, third person, and classic point and click. I really liked the idea and the implementation. There's only one specific point in the game where I overlooked an item because it was quite well hidden if you are playing it on third person perspective. Other than that, everything works well.

One thing to note though, I don't know why but I have experienced this issue since the past Sherlock Holmes game that already implemented the first person perspective, whenever I play on first person it makes me want to puke. There's something in this game that doesn't sit well with me and every time I use the first person perspective it caused motion sickness. I am not sure why as I have played hundreds of games using first person perspective since I was a kid.

Most puzzles are good, really fun and satisfying. Some can be really challenging and make your brain gear moving. Although there are moments here and there where the puzzle felt arbitrary and/or explained poorly. I think this is yet another thing that were just overlooked at the time. I hope the next game I play in this series are better at it.

Voice acting in this game also has its own charms. It's not great, but it felt perfect for the game. It's just quite charming and make the game richer.

If you can live with some of the old game design this game suffered from, it's a really fun experience.
