I do think this is the best game in the Cold Steel series. I can't go into details without spoiling stuff, but let's just say they did the ending in a similar way to Cold Steel I and it is even worse, in a good way. I played countless RPG games in my life but only a few would invoke such a primal emotion, and this game has to be one of the latest to do so.
I think one of the best thing about Trails series is the way they keep doing it all over again by introducing you to characters, build them over a full game length, making you care about them, and make you so involved in the politics of the game's world, and sweep it from under your feet when you are not even prepared and leave you at that until the next Trails comes out. I feel lucky that I played this game late so I can just move on to the next Trails games without having to wait.
