Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike action RPG set in the land of Shu during the dark and tumultuous late Ming Dynasty, plagued by warring factions and a mysterious illness that spawns monstrous creatures. During the late Ming dynasty, the region of Shu is ravaged by warring factions and haunted by a mysterious affliction known as the Feathering, which erodes its victims' memories, drives them to madness, and twists them into monstrous forms. The story follows Bai Wuchang, a female pirate who returns to her homeland of Shu in search of an ancient artifact said to hold the power to resurrect her younger sister, Bai Yu. After a feathered monstrosity rampages nearby, Wuchang herself becomes afflicted with the Feathering and loses her memory, and she is taken in by a Taoist who shelters her. Setting out for a sanctuary rumored to hold knowledge of the disease, she reunites with her loyal crewmate He Youzai and presses on through a land unraveling into chaos, searching for a cure and the truth of her own past.
