On Christmas 2011 I got an XBOX 360, this game and Modern Warfare 3. I didn't get another game until my birthday in August 2012, not out of choice but because it's all we could afford. I squeezed every last drop of content from this game, to the point where I completed every quest and the only thing I could do that wasn't going on an NPC killing spree was those repeat "Kill this bandit in this random dungeon/bandit camp for 100 gold" misc quests.
I think it's because of how much I exhausted this game why I don't think I could ever go back to vanilla without either modding the shit out of it (something I don't want to do because setting that up is tedious) or if I ever get a VR set up.
As a Metal Gear fan, this is the easiest, most-seemless playing experience in the entire series, but has the worst story (even worse than MGS4) simply because it barely has one. The depth in gameplay isn't quite up to the standard set by previous games in the franchise and there are far too many solutions to problems presented within gameplay, but is more immediately understandable and accessible than previous games.
"A problem child, but one I still love" is how I'd sum it up, which thinking about now is probably how my mother feels about me so I guess it's appropriate.
A game so good it kicked my arse and told me to buy a PC. The only compaint I have isn't really about the game, it's about Marty's/ID Software's shitty treatment of Mick Gordon. The man deserved WAY better, and not just because he provided them a soundtrack that's one of the best in video-games. Shame.
I really liked playing this before the game got solved, now like a lot of anime-tag fighters, if I get touched once, I gotta wait like 45 seconds before I can play the video game again. Aside from my own lack of skill though, it's an amazing spectacle. The 3D dragonball games should all aspire to be as brilliant in visuals as this game (except for ssj4 gogeta's level 1, that thing looks stupid). Also however, this game's story mode is soooooo borring. I'm glad I just pre-ordered the game so I didn't have to play it to unlock Majin-21.
My first and only real experience with the Just Cause series (I'll go back to the others at some point), and was the perfect free-form arcadey destruction game with really fun traversal mechanics. Though some missions and base captures can be annoying when not employing reliable-but-boring methods, this is a must-play for anyone who wants to play a very video-gamey video game.
